Molina, Wu, Network LLC and
City of Long Beach Announce
Community Hospital Lease Agreement
LONG BEACH, October 15, 2019 - The Long Beach City Council today approved a permanent lease and operating agreement between the City of Long Beach and the Molina, Wu, Network, LLC (MWN) healthcare group that paves the way for the reopening of Community Hospital Long Beach (Community Hospital).
MWN, a partnership between Pacific6 Enterprises, AHMC Healthcare, Inc and Network Medical Management, has operated the property under a tentative lease agreement since March 2019 as the organization worked with the City of Long Beach to submit seismic compliance plans and an application for hospital licensing to state regulators.
The approval of this permanent lease agreement now allows MWN to move expeditiously to hire and onboard staff and to purchase the necessary equipment required by the State inspection, currently scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2019.
“We’re proud of our work with the City of Long Beach to make the reopening of Community Hospital a reality,” said John Molina, Founding Partner at Pacific6. “This is but another step in the unprecedented process of reopening this facility and we’re optimistic for the work ahead of us.”
“Community Hospital is a critical piece of the public safety infrastructure here in Long Beach,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “The agreement approved tonight gets us one step closer to re-opening the hospital, and I want thank MWN and the nurses for their partnership.”
Under the terms of the agreement, the City of Long Beach will lease the property to MWN for 45 years with the option of two 10-year extensions. MWN will assume the costs needed to seismically retrofit, reopen, and operate the acute care hospital and the City will reimburse up to 50% of the seismic work costs in annual payments over a 15-year period, committing up to a total of $25 million.
